THE COURTYARD

Once the stables for the main house. It was built and designed by John Carr of York who was a famous Yorkshire Architect in the 18th century. He was responsible for buildings such as; Harewood House, Buxton Assembly Rooms and Fairfax House.

Spring - Summer 10am - 5pm

Autumn - Winter 10am - 4pm

Monday - Sunday

Access to the courtyard is free

Inside is the entrance to the Gardens and Country Park.

It is also home to our mini Gift & Farm Shop, Bunny Scoops Ice Cream Parlour, and a couple of independent businesses including the Welund Forge and Mad as a Potter Pottery Studio whose hours may differ.

Elsham Hall Food and Farm Shop

In the heart of the courtyard and entrance to the country park is our Gift & Farm shop, stocking local gifts and treats.

This is where you can purchase an entry ticket and/or enquire about our Rewards Programme.

Next to the Gift & Farm Shop, is our striking bright yellow Ice Cream Parlour, Bunny Scoops.

Serving up delicious Northern Bloc ice cream in cones or tubs and barista made coffees & drinks.

The perfect pairing for a countryside walk around the gardens.

Bunny Scoops Ice Cream

Launching later in the year, 2026.

The cafe is under full refurbishment and will be launch as a bakery & cafe, serving up delicious baked sourdoughs, breads and all sorts of sweet treats! Plus barista made coffees and a full selection of drinks.

The Secret Garden Tearoom is now permanently closed.

HOP Bakehouse

Mad as a Potter

Painting your own pottery is a great way to relax, unwind and have fun with your creative side.

Welund Forge

Blacksmiths have worked on site since the 18th century and perhaps beyond. James Jarvis and his partner Denise have run Welund Forge Blackmith’s from the courtyard for several decades. From sword smithing, sculpture, tools, you name it.
